Conni Dawson – The Street Harpist
Conni Dawson is a traditional Irish musician, harpist and storyteller whose work explores Ireland’s shared history, mythology and landscape through story, song and music. Born in Fermanagh and raised in Clare, Conni draws inspiration from the people, places and folklore of the island of Ireland.
A self-taught harpist, Conni previously travelled across the country researching the origins of traditional Irish music in her tour Around Ireland in 80 Tunes. This passion for place and heritage inspired her annual storytelling tour, Storylines, where Irish myths are told in the landscapes where they unfold.
This year’s Storylines follows the River Shannon from Dowra to Kilrush, tracing the story of Sionnan, the goddess from whom the river takes its name. Through storytelling, song and harp music, Conni brings ancient tales to life and invites audiences to rediscover the history and mythology woven into Ireland’s rivers, mountains and towns.
In this one-woman performance, audiences journey from Tory Island and Moytura to Enniskillen and the River Shannon, discovering the powerful stories of Ceithleann and Síonnan — two legendary women deeply connected to Ireland’s waterways.
